This episode of Song Exploder includes Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, of The Lumineers. The duo talk about how they had the piano riff for “Ophelia” about four years before it was finally made. They struggled a lot with getting the right lyrics for the song that did not feel contrived. The song writing was probably the hardest part of this production. They also went into details about creating the stomping noise at the beginning of the song at a loft. This created a really unique sound. After lots of tweaking the details they got a song they are so proud of. Finally, they got all the aspects of the song just right in my opinion. This is such an incredible song and I recommend it to anyone.
